SKIPPER HOUSE
Barsebäck, Sweden
2024 -ongoing
260 sqm
Remodeling and addition to a fisherman’s house in Barsebäcks hamn from the early 20th century. The new combined house will be a summer house for a family living abroad. A new building is placed along the Northern perimeter of the site, connecting to the original house through a glass link. The addition lines up bathrooms and bedrooms along the North facade, leaving the South part as a coninuous living room that can be divided into two or three spaces. The original house is gutted to provide a kitchen and dining room, with a guest bedroom above the kitchen.
The material pallette attempts to tie the two volumes together with yellow brick, in the floor using reclaimed from a small guest building on the site and laid out in a herringbone pattern. Both buildings will get zinc roofs and gables with wooden louvres for sun shading.
